Privacy Notice

Last updated August 31, 2026. This is an English summary of the Portuguese Aviso de Privacidade, which is the reference version.

Data used in a room

Nickname and avatar are kept in the browser's sessionStorage and sent to the server when connecting. The video URL, playback state, chat messages and reactions travel between the server and participants to keep the room in sync.

Retention

OpenParty keeps the room, chat and reactions in memory and clears that state once the last person leaves. The chosen theme may persist in localStorage until changed or cleared in the browser.

Video and infrastructure

YouTube videos use the YouTube player and API, subject to that provider's policy. MP4 files are loaded by the browser directly from the URL provided. Hosting, network and video services may log IP address, time, requested URL and other technical data for delivery and security, according to their own policies.

Purpose and sharing

Data is used to create the room, identify participants, sync the player, deliver chat and reactions, limit abuse, and diagnose failures. The project does not sell this data or use it for behavioral advertising.

Your rights and contact

To ask about how OpenParty handles data, or to request access, correction or deletion of a record that still exists, write to nikolasdehor79@gmail.com. We may ask for information to locate the session and confirm your identity. Data kept only in memory may already have been deleted by the time the request arrives.
